Flanged Immersion Heaters consist of tubular elements formed into a hairpin and mounted into a metal flange. A terminal enclosure is fitted which contains the electrical connections and control thermostats. The tubular elements can be brazed, welded or fitted mechanically to the flange.
The whole unit is then installed by bolting to a matching flange, which is welded to the customer’s tank.
A wide variation of flanges in various materials are readily available together with voltage and kilowatt ratings.
Flanged immersion heaters are widely used to heat liquids and gases. They are used to heat these solutions in tanks, Circulation and Outflow heaters, as well as pressure vessels. The direct method of immersing the element into the solution ensures good heat transfer and efficient operation.
The elements used are usually Incoloy but where the application dictates other materials are available. Terminal enclosures are manufactured from Stainless Steel, Coated Mild Steel, Aluminium or Polycarbonate and, where necessary, they can be designed to conform up to IP67. All units may be supplied with pockets for thermostats and safety cutouts and are pre-wired in stages to secondary terminals for ease of connection.

Withdrawable Type Units:
These heaters are similar in design to our standard units except the elements used are cartridge type, which are inserted through the terminal box into tubes, which are welded to the flange. The advantage being that all maintenance, including element replacement, can be achieved without having to drain the tank.

Flanged Immersion Heaters are suitable for operation in most solutions – the criteria being the materials used and the density rating of the elements. Our engineers will be pleased to help in this respect.
Maximum operating temperatures are 700° with working pressures up to 2000psi.

Over the side heaters:
Designed for tanks and containers where through the side immersion heaters cannot be used – for example in lined vessels, plastic or ceramic tanks. These heaters are mounted via the open top of the tank with the heated portion running along the bottom. The terminal enclosure is designed to locate outside the tank for safety.
Normally these units are used in acid baths, laboratory equipm

Screwed Immersion Heaters:
Comprise of tubular elements formed into hairpin and brazed or welded into a screwed boss having a suitable terminal enclosure fitted. These units are screwed directly through a matching coupling in the tank side.
A large variation of plug sizes, sheath materials and loadings is available and all units can be fitted with control thermostats.

Normally these units are used in acid baths, laboratory equipment, rinse tanks etc, and are ideally suited to this type of application as they are easily removed for cleaning and can be designed to fit around obstructions in the tank such as mixers and stirrers.
The heaters are robust in construction, can be fitted with thermostatic control and the electrical terminal housings are splash proof. The element can be formed to any shape to suit round, square, rectangular tanks and by using multi element units, high loadings can be achieved.
Depending upon the sheath material used these heaters are suitable for water, acids, oils, detergents and solders.
Where sludge deposits form on the tank bottom the heaters are lifted off the tank floor by legs fitted to the element. These may be varied in height depending on the amount of sludge. A wide variation of sheath materials is available to provide resistance to corrosion.
